No. 1 Pittsburgh (30-4) 84 No. 8 Oklahoma State (23-12) 76
Key Moment: Pittsburgh guard Lavance Fields' 3-pointer with 1:30 to play extended the lead from 76-74 to 79-74.
High Point Scorers: Pittsburgh -- Sam Young 32 Oklahoma State -- Obi Muonelo 19
Analysis: This certainly was the pace Oklahoma State wanted. However, the Panthers played like a No. 1 seed and were better in the second half. Sam Young was spectacular with 32 points. Plus, the Pitt defense was better on the arc. The Cowboys were 10-16 in the first half from 3-point range but only 2-12 in the second half. The Panthers came up with the win despite DeJuan Blair being limited to 10 points and 12 rebounds.
What's Next: The Panthers advance to the Sweet 16 in Boston where they will play No. 4 Xavier which defeated No. 12 Wisconsin, 60-49. The Panthers are going to have be careful with Xavier's quickness. The Musketeers always have good guards. This is chance for Fields to reveal his value. Xavier cannot match the post against Blair and and Young.
