NCAA Tournament Recap: #3 Missouri vs #14 Cornell

West Regional Matchup

No. 3 Missouri (29-6) 78, No. 14 Cornell (21-10) 5

Key Moment: Missouri's DeMarre Carroll scored nine of his 11 points in the second half to give the Tigers their first NCAA tournament since 2003.
High Point Scorers: Missouri -- Leo Lyons 21  Cornell -- Ryan Wittman 18
Analysis: It was a struggle for about 2/3s of the game, but the Tigers found some momentum in the second half and were able to pull away. They led only 29-25 at the half and Carroll really struggled. Credit Missouri with some very good free throw shooting. Shooting 66.8 percent for the season, the Tigers were 17-19 (89.5 percent) in this game.
What's Next: The Tigers advance to the second round Sunday and will meet No. 6 seed Marquette which also struggled with No. 11 Utah State but won, 58-57. The Golden Eagles aren't the same with Dominic James who is out with a foot injury. If Carroll gets off to a good start, then the Golden Eagles will have trouble staying with the Tigers.
