Summary: The Jayhawks won the Big 12 regular season title for the fifth consecutive year but were surprisingly eliminated by Baylor in the tournament quarterfinals. North Dakota State won the Summit Conference regular season and tournament titles.

Key stat: Kansas – Center Cole Aldrich has 18 double doubles this year. North Dakota State – The Bison made the tournament the first year it was eligible.
Kansas will win: Because the Jayhawks will be humbled by the early exit in the Big 12 tournament. The defending national champions shoot well and defend well. They want to defend their title even with a new roster.
North Dakota State will win: Because it will have great fan support at the Metrodome. If the Bison get off to a good start, the crowd will be behind them. The ballclub, though, just has to make some shots early.
