Well, folks, its that time of year again…March Madness. While most people think of the yearly event starting next weekend for the start of the NCAA Tourney, it really begins this weekend with the Big 12 Tournament in Dallas (along with all of the rest of the conference tournaments). There will be eleven games played from Thursday through Sunday, with eight of them played over the first two days. It will give teams with no shot at an NCAA at-large a chance to win four games in four days, and it will give the teams that are in a chance to jockey for the all-important seeding in the Big Dance. Here is a prognostication of what will happen during this wild, wild week.
2:00 PM, Texas (1) vs. Kansas (2)
Texas crushed Kansas in Austin and it wasn’t even close. Texas has all of the pieces to win this tournament and even the NCAA’s with a solid draw. That being said, with Kansas winning the first two games in the tournament, this young team could start thinking they can beat Texas this time around. The crowd will be in the Longhorns favor, but I think if Kansas gets to the championship they will win in the revenge matchup…although the past has shown that this game doesn’t matter much for seeding.
Kansas 67, Texas 64.
Mark it down—KU wins the Big 12 Tournament. Enjoy the week, I know I will.
