Big 12 Basketball Tournament Preview

By Big12-Fans Writer Josh Cline

Well, folks, its that time of year again…March Madness. While most people think of the yearly event starting next weekend for the start of the NCAA Tourney, it really begins this weekend with the Big 12 Tournament in Dallas (along with all of the rest of the conference tournaments). There will be eleven games played from Thursday through Sunday, with eight of them played over the first two days. It will give teams with no shot at an NCAA at-large a chance to win four games in four days, and it will give the teams that are in a chance to jockey for the all-important seeding in the Big Dance. Here is a prognostication of what will happen during this wild, wild week.

Thursday, March 9 - First Round
Saturday, March 11 - Semifinals

Saturday, March 11 - Semifinals

1:00 PM, Texas (1) vs. Colorado (5)
Colorado has a chance to pull off the upset if everything clicks for them. They are a good darkhorse team because they have a player who can play well inside and out…if Roby can get hot, the Buffs can win. However, Texas is just playing too well right now to think that Colorado can beat them. Texas comes into the tournament with the most quality players and they will outshine the Buffaloes.
Texas 75, Colorado 65.

3:20 PM, Kansas (2) vs. Oklahoma (3)
On paper alone, I would take the Sooners in this one, I think they are a good team with the right parts to win this tournament. That being said, OU has a bunch of problems right now. They turn over the ball way too much and they have disguised poor play with one point victories. That disguise was revealed after their 24-point defeat at Texas on Sunday. If OU doesn’t fix these issues, Kansas should take this one, and I think they will.
Kansas 64, Oklahoma 57.

Thursday, March 9 - First Round
Saturday, March 11 - Semifinals
