Oklahoma vs. Chattanooga recap

Sophomores Step Up in OU Victory

Oklahoma gets an easy 57 to 2 win in their first game of the season against Tennessee-Chattanooga. The Sooners defense was very impressive allowing only 2 first downs on 36 yards of total offense for the Mocs. Yet even with this domination OU failed to force a single turnover, despite forcing Chattanooga to fumble 3 times. Oklahoma’s offensive effort was very effective racking up 27 first downs, 487 yards of total offense, and scoring touchdowns on each of their first 7 possessions.

Sam Bradford looked just as good as he did in his freshman campaign going 17 of 22 for a 77% completion percentage with 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and totaling 183 passing yards. He also maintained his sky high efficiency rating compiling a 177.14.  Now all of this may not look very impressive at first glance, but keep in mind he did not even play 2 full quarters as Coach Stoops pulled him after the Sooners built up a 43 point lead with a little less than 7 minutes remaining in the half.

The other sophomore offensive superstar DeMarco Murray had a very good day as well. He turned only 15 carries into a 124 yard and 2 touchdown performance. He had a run of 49 yards and averaged over 8 yards per carry. If he and Sam Bradford can keep up this stellar play it is very likely OU will be bidding for a spot in the national championship this year. The Sooners play Cincinnati in their second week of play.
